Cheerleading - Makayla Dain
Makayla Dain is Athlete of the Week for cheerleading. Makayla is a junior at S-E and has been on the cheerleading squad for 3 years. Makayla is one of our captains this season and has definitely proven she can be an asset to the squad. She demonstrates leadership skills during practices and games by calling cheers and keeping up the enthusiasm of the squad. Her cheerleading abilities are outstanding as she is not only an excellent flyer but also has based stunts and is a gymnast. She is very quick to learn cheers and dance choreography, which allows her to help teach the other girls. I enjoy having Makayla on the squad and look forward to next year. Great Job Makayla!

Indoor Track - Brian Campbell
Junior, Brian Campbell is the indoor track and field Athlete of the Week. As a sprinter, Brian concentrated on the 55 meter dash and long jump this season, occasionally adding a 200, 300, or 400 meter event. The story of his season so far though is the 55 meters. Going into the last regular meet his best 55 meter time was 7.22, putting him 13th on the Section III Class B leaderboard for the event. In order to make sectionals, he needed to run 7.21 or be ranked in the top 12. A false start by another competitor in his heat of the race only added to the tension. So, it was very rewarding to see all the training and hard work he put in at practices pay off when his time, a 7.19, was posted. He qualified for Sectionals! If preparation over the next week goes well, it wonÃt surprise me to
see him run faster yet at the Section III Class B Championship. Congratulations Brian!
