Girls Bowling - Ruth Davis

Ruth Davis has been selected as our Athlete of the Week. She is a 9th grader that just started bowling this school year. This is her first official year bowling on a team. She was so excited about bowling she went out and bought all the gear needed and also joined the Saturday morning league at Hi-Skor Lanes. Her attendance is perfect, attending every try-out, practice, and match. She never misses, even when the team she is on is not playing she still attends and cheers.  Ruth is extremely coachable. When being coached she listens and incorporates it into her bowling. She keeps a tablet of all of her data and asks, “What am I doing wrong?” Ruth is respectful and always polite in all situations. She is a team player; she rallies the team and gives her total support to her fellow bowlers. You can hear her saying, “Nice try!” and “That was awesome!” Ruth has shown a marked improvement already in her first year, starting her average out at 82 and increasing it by 8 pins. She definitely has earned the honor of Athlete of the Week, being the team encourager, supporter, he devotion to the sport, and being the top fundraiser. At this time in the season Ruth's high game is a 127 and a 294 series. Her highlight this season was converting the 3-10 split.

Swimming - Brent Guiles

Brent Guiles is the varsity boys swim team Athlete of the Week.  Brent has accumulated the team's third-most points through the first 10 meets of the swimming season.  He has captured numerous first place points in both the 200 yd Individual Medley and the 100 yd Butterfly.  These two events are the most difficult to compete in as they both require advanced swimming skills and perfect coordination and timing. In addition, he has anchored or been a part of three different relay teams that have earned first or second place points in all of the meets this season.  Brent leads by example and has set the race times and practice standards very high for his teammates. They have responded and he's helped 7 swimmers qualify for the Section III Championships in all 12 events, while Brent has individually qualified for four of eight individual events and he is just, 1 and 3 seconds off the standards for the 100 yd Breaststroke and 100 yd Free.  He has also qualified for all three relays, swimming the anchor leg on two and the 50 yd Butterfly on the 200 Medley relay.  Brent is enlisting in the US Marine Corps. Brent has made a huge difference for the swim team, his fellow teammates, and coaches. He will serve our Nation proudly.
